Sheepscot Scale Products

I wanted realistic structures for my layout, ones that represented what would have been seen along the rails of northern New England during the late steam era. This was back in the early 1980s and there was no kit I could purchase that would come close, they all had a western flavor. I was fortunate to come across the plans of a Maine Central freight and baggage building dated 1897 and used them to design my first kit in 1987. In a short time the Boston and Maine Historical Society got me the the plans for a standard signal tower and the North Hampton station. By now I knew that I was going to phase out of the cabinet making business and go full time into making structure kits for model railroaders.

I produced a number of various kits over the next thirteen years and in 2000 I made the decision to put my energies in HO scale model trucks in the era of 1930 to 1960. I continue to do that today, the only real change is that I'm producing fewer kits because the demand is for custom built models. I enjoy building the models and if the demand ever falls off I've got plenty of ideas for new kits, mostly machinery that will compliment the truck models.

Sincerely,
George Barreett
