Etta General Store

Publication: Narrow Gauge and Short Line Gazette
Publication Date: Jan - Feb 2012

Bollinger Edgerly Scale Trains sells HO scale kits of the Etta General Store. The protype is in Wickenburg, Arizona, and this kit is one of BEST's Wickenburg series. These kits include laser-cut wood parts, stripwood, white metal detail castings (including four figures), precut acetate, precut corrugated material, and tar paper strips for roofing.

Two of the walls are "stucco" simulated by plastic embossed overlay sheets. Slight sanding at the joint between the two walls erased any evidence of the joint. Despite the instructions, I added reinforcing strips to the underside of the roof before erecting the front walls. I had a fairly large gap in the front wall joints, but angle stock from my scrap box covered the gap.

Interior walls are provided, and I covered them with Paper Creek olive colored planking. Then I covered the floors with Paper Creek simulated wood planking. Except for one plastic door, the windows and doors are laser-cut.

Metal corrugated roofing is provided for the porch, as is tarpaper for the roof. With the addition of the two smoke stacks (provided), my kit assembled into a pleasing looking store.
