Fish Market and Boat Launch. (2 structures) Gloucester (Annasquam), Massachusetts. Kit 1019 The Fish market was once part of Lobster Cove in Annasquam (Gloucester), Massachusetts. Lobster Cove is one of the oldest fishing ports in New England and dates back to about 1700's. By at least 1850 there was already a fish house at that location. It's original built date is unknown but it's now unlikely that it was build sometime in the 1700's. Whether it was the fish market of this kit or a previous structure is also unknown. Earliest photographic evidence of this fish market start to appear in the 1880's. Photographs from the 1920's still show it as a fish market. Photos from the 1930's show the structure with a drive under awning in the front and gas pumps - indicating that it was converted into a service station.
