Philbrick and Hill Hardware Tilton, New Hampshire. Kit 1092 In 1871 Enoch G. Philbrick made his home in Tilton, NH-. It is assumed that in that same time period he built the Philbrick & Hill Hardware and Grocery Store. The stores sold goods included those from the West Indies, the most common was sugar in the form of molasses. The store was bought by Edwin H. Bryant in 1891 and operated as a meat market, grocery and hardware store. In 1921, Mr. Bryant’s son, Maurice and Oakes K. Lawrence partnered for 30 years to run the store, now named Bryant & Lawrence Hardware. By January 1952 the partnership dissolved when Mr. Bryant retired and Mr. Lawrence became the sole owner. The hardware store is now owned by Mr. Lawrence’s son, Bill. This business is still in operation as of the summer of 2014.
